At DS Metaal, we believe it is important to attract employees who are a good fit for us. That means you do need to have knowledge and/or experience of metalwork, reading technical drawings and measuring instruments. If you do not have this yet, but really want to work with us, please let us know why you would like to and what you need from us to make this a success. Together, we can then see if that is possible.

Mandatory training courses are paid for by us. For training courses requested on your own initiative, we often enter into a study agreement. This means that we pay for the course and (a part of) the training hours, but we also expect an investment of time from you.

A few examples:

• NIL Welding Certificates (Netherlands Institute of Welding):
  For various welding processes such as MIG/MAG, TIG, and MMA welding.
  Certificates range from basic to advanced and specialist levels.
• Courses and Certificates in CNC Technology:
  Given that CNC machining is an important part of modern machining technology at DS Metaal, there are various courses and certifications specifically focused on CNC programming, operation and maintenance.
• BBL (Work-Based Learning Pathway) Diplomas in Machining Technology:
  These qualifications are obtained through a work-based learning pathway, combining practical experience with theoretical study.
• Forklift certificate
• Practice supervisor

At a metal processing company, safety is of the utmost importance. Below is a list of the PPE that you will be provided with at DS Metaal:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

• Safety glasses or face shields to protect the eyes from sparks, metal splinters and chemical splashes.
• Hearing protection such as earplugs or ear defenders, given the high noise levels in metalworking companies.
• Heat-resistant gloves and protective clothing such as welding gear to protect against heat, sparks and sharp objects.
• Safety boots with steel toe caps to protect feet from falling objects and punctures.

Safety Education and Training:

• Regular training on safe working practices, machine handling, and emergency procedures.

Machine safety

• Use of safety guards and fencing around machinery.
• Regular maintenance and inspection of machinery and tools.
• Use of emergency stop buttons and other safety devices on machinery.

Ergonomics:

• Modifications to prevent strain and stress injuries, such as adjustable workstations and ergonomic tools.

Safe Working Practices:

• Clear protocols and procedures for all work activities.
• Policy for safe lifting and handling of heavy objects.
• Good housekeeping and organisation to prevent slips and trips.

Health and Hygiene:

• Eyewash facilities and showers in the event of exposure to harmful substances.
• Regular health and safety checks.
• Hygiene policy to limit exposure to hazardous substances.

Emergency procedures:

• Clear emergency exits and evacuation plans.
• Availability of fire extinguishers, fire blankets and first aid kits.
• Firefighting and first aid training.

We require basic knowledge of the Dutch language, but we are also happy to help you achieve this.

Yes. We encourage employees who want to build a career within DS Metaal. This means not only vertical progression, but also broadening or deepening your skills. For example, training as a practical trainer, while also continuing to carry out your own tasks.

Normally you work from 7:30 to 16:15. It can sometimes happen that we work staggered shifts within the daytime window. The early shift is then from 6:00 to 14:45 and the day shift from 9:15 to 18:00.
We work a 38-hour working week, so on Fridays you always finish two hours early and get to start your weekend nice and early!

You can come and work for us from the age of 16. Due to legislation, you are not yet allowed to work at all times and carry out all tasks. This also means that, unfortunately, you cannot be considered for every vacancy, because of our opening hours and the availability required for them. From the age of 18, you are allowed to work at all times and carry out all tasks.
